A Beauty Pageant Bridge Collapses, Sending 30 Miss Thailand Contestants Plunging Into a Dirty Pond

THE dramatic — or hilarious, depending on your point of view – moment a bridge snapped sending 30 Miss Thailand contestants plunging into a dirty pond has been captured in new viral video footage. The glammed-up crown chasers were visiting a cafe as part of their second day of competition in Chiang Mai and were posing for pictures on a suspension bridge made from ropes connected to a steel walkway when it gave way. The structure could not bear the weight of the women and snapped, sending them crashing into the water below. Three girls were injured with one suffering cuts and bruises on her forehead, while two others sustained minor scrapes, Newsflare reports.

In a video, the pageant hopefuls can be seen in their matching outfits and sun hats as they stand on top of the bridge holding bubble tea glasses. They are all smiling and waving before the structure gives way, causing the contestants to fall into the pond. One woman can be heard scream.

The video was uploaded to social media where it has been shared thousands of times. While many may find it funny, it is heartbreaking for those who were injured in the incident.

The shattered timber bridge ended up dangling over the Arsenyevka River, killing a groom and a bride-to-be and injuring at least two other people.
